Paper Mayan Calendars

A Link to the Gregorian Calendar

Most paper Mayan Calendars are not Mayan calendars proper but are Gregorian Calendars which explore the Mayan Calendar by juxtaposing hieroglyphs onto their corresponding dates. The simple reason for this is if you actually got a Mayan Calendar you probably wouldn't have a clue how to read it. I couldn't. This gives us an introduction using a related concept with which we are already famailiar.

Cloth Mayan Calendars

Legends Passed On

On your right is a cloth Mayan Calendar. It is sold in the markets in Guatemala and measures roughly 18" x 18". The images tell stories and point to important locations. You can buy them in many colors. This is also not a calendar proper to record the passage of time but refers to Mayan legends and places.
